Intimate Landscaping!

Have you seen these commercials?  Oooooh, how they make me giggle!

But they also made me think… just how preoccupied are we with… uh… intimate landscaping?

Answer:  really occupied.   I mean, just looking at YouTube can tell you that.

According to Nancy Etcoff in her book Survival of the Prettiest, “the Roman poet Ovid advised women, “Let no rude goat find his way beneath your arms and let not your legs be rough with bristling hair.” (97)

Etcoff also cites various instances of pubic hair being in and out of vogue- in Playboy, in famous sculptures, and in classical paintings.  As she puts it, “whenever a new part of the female body is bared, it becomes a potential site for hair removal” (97).

So apparently we’ve been really preoccupied with this for a whiiiiiiile.

Woof.  Humans are strange.  Just sayin’.  Really though, cultural espionage can be a hazardous sport.
